We got over nine inches of rain in November here. Today, at 3:30 p.m. the sun was just two fingers away from the horizon.

On the ride in this morning, NPR ran a story about a 15 year-old girl who was gang-raped in Richmond, California. The theme of the story dealt with the fact that no one reported this until hours afterwards, and around 20 of her fellow students looked on as it was happening. The story talked about the loss of humanity.

This came on a day when Obama announced more troops in Afghanistan, which is about the same time of year we began invading them eight years ago. Where has the time gone?

A procession of cop cars led four coffins through Tacoma today carrying cops slain on Sunday by an ex-con from Arkansas, who started having a mental breakdown in May.

He shot the four of them in cold blood, in a coffee shop in Tacoma, then fled the scene with a bullet wound. Friends and family gave him money, aided in the get-away, and tended to his wounds. He was shot dead this morning around 3 a.m. in South Seattle by a cop who was patrolling, alone. I was relieved to hear this, then felt guilty, then felt good.

  1. Children change the mix in life and death matters. I have put myself in harms way, in front of an out of control horse in a parade-not bullets, to help a Mother who had three kids herself watching a parade. Murderers and the like do deserve to die when they rampage!!! It is already a crazy world. My kids deserve some safety, and I deserve a little piece of mind.
