Explain why you chose your blog’s title and what it means to you.
Pinklightsabre is a silly name I thought of years ago: Anthony and I had a running list of names for punk bands we imagined we would start, some day. (Like the guys in Guided by Voices, we would be a bit older, but really, really good.)
I used the name on my blog for a few years, but it didn’t mean anything to me until a recent visit to my mom’s house, in Germany.
When we were last there in 2009, I had started reading a Carlos Castaneda novel, but stopped midway. I picked the book back up this past December, three years later, and started where I left off.
I borrowed an image from the cover to put on the header of the blog, and realized my posts are centered on themes of light and darkness. We are surrounded by the dark, and rely on a light within us to guide our way. It’s at the center of what we do and who we are.
There’s something I like about the dark: it’s a place of mystery and the unknown. It’s where you need to go if you want to excavate what’s inside of you.
I want to share my discoveries and commit myself to a life of exploration and wonder. Thanks for spending time with me rooting through caves and through forests, looking for the unexpected.
