The Dénouement

I am a big fan of putting things away. I even like putting away Christmas decorations, and if it’s been a bad Christmas, I’m not as gentle. This is the beginning of our German denouement, and soon, my sabbatical denouement.

A good denouement should resolve things – like The Usual Suspects, which we just watched again on my laptop, our last night in Dublin. But some stories don’t resolve, they just end.

We wrapped up our third and final European vacation (to Ireland) this week, and the pace of things is speeding up now.

Friday, we had our friend Stefan over. Saturday it was John, his wife, and their 20 month-old from Munich, and Dawn’s friend Scott with his husband Tim, from Basel. I escorted John to the bahnhof but just realized it’s Winter Time now, so they got there an hour earlier than necessary. It just says Winter Time on my mom’s calendar for today – which suggests winter starts today, but instead they mean winter TIME.
