Dark

The wind is coming in from the south today, and sounds like the ocean when it’s going out. Pine needles are everywhere. This is the time of year marked by a moodiness in the northwest, when we all comment about the dark.

We are tearing apart our bedroom drawers as a kind of Fall cleaning, to get ourselves sorted out for the winter. So many things go undone in our normal lives, and grow in piles around us. We’re trying to get a jump on that so we can ease back into our routines.

The rain is really beautiful (looking at it from inside-out), and I’ve managed to enjoy the season for what it is, this week. We look for comfort in rich foods, pots of coffee, and wines described as “big.”
