Time Passages, Al Stewart. I grew up in the 70s, the 80s…the photos are embarrassing. Equally so for the 60s, I’m guessing.
Songs like Time Passages, well: it’s good, it’s earnest, and yet it has a bit of cheese to it, that comes with the time. But there’s something sweet about that too, that’s real.
I wonder what we’ll be embarrassed of, looking back at this time, and if it’s true, we’ve swung too far with our devices and distractions and we’ll realize that some day, and swing back to the middle, between real people and facsimiles.
I’m giving thanks to those people I’ve met on the Internet who are real, whom I may have never met otherwise, but above all else I want to meet in person some day.

0:22 Isn’t that the guy who plays Howard on “Big Bang Theory”? Al Stewart’s cheesiness can be blamed on/credited to Alan Parsons, who knew from shmaltz. Irony wasn’t such a big deal back then, which is why stuff like this apologetically exists. And I’m glad it does because, you know what? It’s a good song.
I think future adults will be embarrassed by Ke$ha and the use of the N word in gangsta rap. Al Stewart seems pretty harmless by comparison.
