  1. What does that mean? That means something doesn’t it? I went in the back yard the other day and found a pile of burnt charcoal by the gate to the street. Freakin Blair Witch type stuff is what that is.

    • It just sat there ominous the whole time we were in the loft, for four days or so, and no one touched it. Interesting background here, that is, if you’re interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ace_of_spades
      I seem to recall a scene from Apocalypse Now maybe, or another ‘Nam movie, where the soldiers are littering corpses with the cards as a way to frighten the Viet Cong, I think. And interesting that James I had something to do with it, as it seems we’ve been looking at paintings of him here all this week — he’s the James VI/James I, son to Mary Queen of Scots, first Scottish king to rule over all of England, Ireland, and France. Quite a paper route, eh? Too big to hold too long.
