Hold the pose

I’m celebrating 6o days of blogging today. Any monkey can do it, but it takes a special kind of monkey to be so persistent.

In Yoga, sometimes we hold a balancing pose for half a minute or so. It’s intended to build core strength, and you can only do it if you can learn how to turn off your mind. (Ironic, that you need to use one part of your mind to tell the other part to shut up.)

This week, I had the voices of self-doubt and fear vying for attention: Maybe you should pare it back to weekly posts…Focus more on quality…that kind of thing. I stepped on the voices.

After Lily’s first year in grade school, the teacher sent home a packet of her school work. You could see how dramatically her handwriting improved over the course of a year. The same can happen with writing, or anything you do.

Don’t look too hard and long at it. Flip the page, keep going.

  1. Today I let my past get the best of me and did not write a post for today, but instead shared my very first post I had ever written. It is interesting than because I read your post today. Life is full circle. It took someone dying for me to start writing: http://alesiablogs.wordpress.com/2013/01/25/i-looked-death-in-the-eyes-and-i-could-not-help-her-2/

  3. Well done! I completely agree. I had thought about blogging for ages, but never got around to it, because I had this idea of perfection in my head. I finally started – very small and simple – a few months back and have really enjoyed it.
